New Book: Huckleberry & Henry Stand Up to Bullying — A Story of Courage and Kindness

New Book: Huckleberry & Henry Stand Up to Bullying — A Story of Courage and Kindness

I’m so excited to finally share the newest Huckleberry & Henry adventure with you: Huckleberry & Henry Stand Up to Bullying.

This book has a message that is especially important to me — helping children understand the power of kindness, courage, friendship, and standing up for others.

As a former family therapist and someone who has spent many years working with children and parents, I know that some of the most important conversations we have with children aren't always the easiest ones to begin.

Bullying is one of them. Stories can give us a way in.

🎥 The Inspiration Behind the Book

In this video, I share more about what inspired me to write Huckleberry & Henry Stand Up to Bullying and what I hope children and the adults who love them take away from the story.

Helping Children Find Their Courage

Children may experience bullying themselves, see it happening to someone else, or simply encounter moments when another child is being excluded or treated unkindly.

I want this book to help open conversations about questions like:

  • What does it mean to be a good friend?
  • What can I do when I see someone being treated unkindly?
  • How can I stand up for someone else?
  • Who can I turn to when I need help?
  • How can one act of kindness make a difference?

We can't prepare children for every difficult situation they'll encounter. But we can help give them the confidence to recognize kindness, choose courage, and know that they don't have to handle hard things alone.

More Than a Book Launch

On Saturday, November 14, we'll gather at the Tau Center in Kirkwood from 9:30–11:00 a.m. for an in-person book launch that will also support the Angelman syndrome community.

A dear friend of my son has a child with Angelman syndrome, and we're joining together to make this celebration about more than a new book.

The Angelman community's message, “We love our angels,” feels particularly meaningful to me and to the work I've spent so many years doing with children and families.

I'll be sharing more details about the event as we get closer, but I hope you'll save the date and join us.

A Story I Hope Starts Conversations

My hope for Huckleberry & Henry Stand Up to Bullying is simple: That children enjoy the story — but that the conversation doesn't end on the last page.

I hope Huckleberry and Henry give parents, grandparents, teachers, and caregivers another opportunity to talk with children about being kind, finding courage, helping others, and remembering that their choices and their voices matter.

I can't wait for you to meet them in their newest adventure.

With love,
Julie 💛
